I was born in South Africa, moved to New Zealand at 9 years old, and then moved to Australia when I was 14. I got my first proper camera (A minolta manual rangefinder) from my grandmother when I was 10 and have enjoyed photography ever since.
When I bought my first digital camera it opened my eyes to the expansive detail possible with a small camera. After the advent of the affordable digital SLR I decided I enjoyed photography more than my studies in computer science and decided I had to make a change in my career path.
I'm still fascinated by photography and learning the artform, I hope I'm never content with my capabilities and always searching to learn and better my photography for myself, and to share with others.
I have come full circle in some regards and shoot with a small rangefinder again, but the one I use is a very high end (albeit almost totally manual) digital camera.
